Why I Do It

IMG_0051 test.jpg

As far back as I can remember I've enjoyed everything that dealt with Christmas. My most favorite was always the lights; multi-colored, clear, large or small, static or blinking, the more the better! Even if it was just one string, stretched out across a few bushes, that was good too! Didn’t matter. It was LIGHT ! I always looked forward to riding around with my sisters and parents, looking at the different displays. There were displays with animated figures, railings and windows outlined in big multicolored bulbs, Santa on a helicopter on the roof of a house and so much more !

I noticed too, as a kid how everybody was always so happy at this time of year. Why was everybody so happy during the Christmas season? Why is it that we all return to our childlike innocence that stays locked away during the rest of the year? What was it about this time of year when we all move from the every day trials and tribulations of life, to peace and love for ourselves, our family and one another? It didn't take long to figure out. It hit me like a ton of bricks one day in church, many years ago !! Love and light. God is love. God is the light of the world. It’s the time of year when we celebrate God's greatest gift of love to us; the birth of His Son to light the way for all mankind; to save us from ourselves! What greater gift is there? So, rejoice ! For He is born !

I know there are those that say "What about Santa Claus?" Nothing wrong there either! He's just another reminder that in loving and giving, we find our own happiness.

Yes, Christmas is absolutely the best time of the year!! Merry Christmas everybody! And may all your Christmases be LIGHT !!!

"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

John 8:12

Luke 2

joseph-mary-walking.jpg2:1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

2:2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

2:3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

2:4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

2:5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

2:6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.nativ1_lg.jpg

2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

2:8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

2:9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

2:10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

nativ3_lg.jpg2:12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

2:13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
